REVIEW: {The Beautiful Wife} by Sandy Ralya

Marital struggles are not unique to any one couple, however, our response to arguments and petty annoyances will ultimately be the determining factor between marital success, and a trip to the divorce court.

Sandy Ralya wrote The Beautiful Wife to help you avoid the most common pitfalls of marriage.

Throughout the book, Sandy makes reference to her own personal experiences and offers practical tips on the importance of self-care, avoiding communication hangups, and finding unity in your financial discussions.

The Beautiful Wife will help guide your reactions to those inevitable disagreements!

Chapter Breakdown

Although the chapters on Sex and Managing Money contained solid advice, I failed to learn anything new. Common themes abound on the important role sex plays in your marriage, and we all know money is the main cause of marital stress.

That being said, there were chapters I really enjoyed, including the one titled, Cultivating Mystique. This concept was different and fresh. Sandy Ralya describes mystique as the result of inner confidence. Women who are confident in their looks, personality, and relationships, will be more attractive than those who constantly need affirmation.

Following each chapter, Sandy lists six to seven Reflection questions, which would be great discussion starters during a small group.

In addition, she suggests First Steps for you to take, particularly as inspiration for your prayer journal. These can be verses to memorize, or personal goals you want to accomplish in your marriage.

I, for one, love the journal idea! I believe journaling your thoughts, prayers, and difficulties, not only releases tension, it also encourages you to grow as an individual. FYI – Dayspring has some gorgeous journals just waiting for you to make your mark!

I also would have liked to see more of Sandy’s personality shine through the pages of The Beautiful Wife. I know she has a heart to see woman realize their full potential, but the words felt, at times, lifeless and bland. I was looking for her personal stories to flow seamlessly throughout her content and give her sound advice a little flair.
